Tell your customers they are supposed to just stream porn. Not download it.

Looks like the 1866 is only $2 more. You won't notice any difference except in benchmarks, but since the price difference is marginal, I'd get the 1866.

Oh my...

quote:

Today we are looking at the new AMD FX9590, clocked at an eye popping 5ghz. The FX9590 is shipped with a base clock of 4.7ghz and a maximum turbo speed of 5.0ghz – the all important figure which has already started a plethora of news stories across the net. AMD wanted to be the first out the door with a 5ghz processor and they achieved it. The question we ask today- ‘Ok – 5ghz, but at what cost?’.
Well we can answer that, immediately.
The cost to the end user will be between £650 and £700 and stores such as ARIA will have stock this week. This is significantly more expensive than Intel’s 3930K (£450) and slightly less expensive than their flagship 3970X (£850).

To put things into perspective, the Haswell Intel 4770K is retailing for £263.99 on ARIA. You could buy two 4770k processors along with some memory and a good power supply for the price of a single FX9590.

What a joke.

Can't wait to see benchmarks. And is this really just a factory overclock? How much more can enthusiasts pull out of it? By what percentage will Haswell rape it clock-for-clock? Admittedly I've read very little about this chip.

EDIT: ooh, the link does have tests/benches. I should click more before posting. Weeeeeee

I didn't read the rest of the pages in the article yet but I thought they said they had done bench tests on it

Yep, my bad for only skimming.

Here are a few hilarious screenshots:

And this is pretty telling:

AMD say they aren’t sampling the processor to the press as it is only for system builders.

It's not much better than their current 8350 and the 8350 is 1/4 of the price.

Also, the 8350's TDP is 125w. The 9590? A lovely 220w.

That people drool over clock speed. Believe me, there is a market for this, just like there is a market for Alienware.

These are binned 8350s. Nothing more. I've just lost so much respect for AMD that I may sell my 7970s
