Is there any reason why an AMD FX 8370 wouldn't work on my build as a replacement for my burnt out AMD FX 8320?

You have 100% determined without a doubt that the CPU is the problem? I don't advise assuming, because the CPU is rarely the problem. But yeah, you could give it a shot. If things don't improve, replace the motherboard with one that has a 990FX chipset.

Ill try connecting it to the other cpu fan header and clear the cmos.

If that doesn't work, I dunno what to do.

If it's really a problem with the mboard, I don't wanna just rma it just for this.

Like I said, the cpu fan is running and temps are still normal for idle and while gaming.

Edit: The thing that bugs me is that the bios also says the cpu fan speed is 0.

Yea, I had a buddy of mine who is far more intelligible when it comes to this stuff plug everything with the exception of my CPU into his AMD build and everything ran fine. So I think to give myself a bit more power I may look at getting the 8370

Something fricked up happened last night while internet surfing.

Is it possible that windows update can install a bios? My computer won't even boot now.

No hard drive activity, no video. Nothing.

Damn things running fine 1 day ago and now I can't even get it to POST.

Windows update won't install a bios. I think maybe your board was dying, and now it's dead. Doesn't matter how new/old it is. Motherboards are shitty like that.

Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this?

Literally the last thing I did before shutting it off last night was installing a Windows update.

Is there a way to reset the bios without any video?

I just went over the 30 day policy with Newegg too... fricking sucks.

ILikeLSUToo or anyone else, can yall use PC Part picker and hook me up with an Intel build. I had a gtx 760 and an AMD FX8320 so I need something stronger than that. I'll be using OBS to stream, playing heavy games like H1Z1 or DayZ or Counter-Strike, listen to music, and running google/Firefox

I'm looking at like a $1200- $1500 budget

PCPartPicker part list: LINK
Price breakdown by merchant: LINK

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor ($394.98 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99-SLI ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($197.86 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($86.83 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($53.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card ($319.99 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1278.61
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I'd recommend waiting until Computex for the new video cards, but for you it is not quite as important. The games you're playing don't really call for the latest and greatest GPU (and the one I have in the part list will be roughly 80-90% faster than your 760 anyway).

Other than the usual (check connections, clear CMOS, run it outside the case), you'd have to start swapping parts.

Yeah, check your motherboard manual for "Clear CMOS." It's usually a jumper on the motherboard, or a button, or both.

as far as cases go, what specifically do I need to look at to make sure its compatible with what you have selected? I want a red case.

Google the case model and "hyper 212" to make sure the case is wide enough for it.

Why are you recommending an i7 and not i5 like you normally do?

He wants to stream to the Twitchs. You need those logical cores for encoding so that your physical cores are utilized for gaming.

I like this one! Oddly im usually in agreement with his recommendations.

My advice is only get an Apple router if you have a majority of Apple devices. Even then its really iffy. This is coming from someone that has 3 macs, 3 iPhones, 2 iPads, and 3 Apple TVs in his house and uses an Airport Extreme and Airport Express as a bridge. When I upgrade my router it won't be made by Apple.

Yeah, and I almost went with a 6700K but took your earlier suggestion for 6 physical cores. Not as fast as the 6700K's individual cores but still a net gain.
