Yeah it's an EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Should I just get the new one in the PC part pick list?

The cables said they are compatible with my brand PSU. I figured I need a new 8 pin CPU connector and a pci Express GPU connector

Eta: after doing some reading I may as well upgrade the power supply to be safe

Seems like my CPU1 connector will not work with axt 12v but a CPU2 connector that I found does work Last update: Pretty sure I need to buy a new CPU connector with the right config slots

This strikes me as unlikely. Pics of the connectors and the motherboard?

Not near it at the moment. Best I can describe is that the single 8 pin CPU connector goes fine into the PSU obviously but that same design on the PSU socket is different than the atx V12 connect

Basically my 4+4 pin to the CPU v12 doesn't have enough squares to match

Ok, you said 4x4 on the cable, and that it’s not enough to match. What does your motherboard have?

I've already got the 24 pin connected. This is the atx 12v which is a 8 pin. Its the mobo from the PC partpicker in this thread

I feel like I’m asking who’s on first at this point, but what is your PSU cable pinned out as?

I don't know what you're asking

Here's what I can offer.

That’s why I asked for a pic of the cable connector

The core of what I’m asking is how your 4+4 cable doesn’t connect to the 8 pin motherboard connector. You said that there is a mismatch in the number of pins, but I don’t understand how that can be.

Oh. One sec.

Here is the 8 pin that seems to connect to BOTH the av12 and PSU

Ok, so your concern wasn’t a difference in the number of pins; it was a difference in how the pins are keyed (squares vs houses/shovels). Squares are the ones truly keyed, while the houses/shovels are universal. This explains it well: LINK

Gotcha. I think I'm best served buying that upgraded compatible PSU from the part picker link. You think that's my best bet?

Because that's what I did

Assuming we're talking about this:
Corsair RM650 (2023) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

No, I would rather keep your fully compatible:
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

If you desperately want a PSU that ships with a full 8 pin, we can discuss it, but it's genuinely not necessary. You can also simply buy an aftermarket 8 pin cable designed for your PSU.

Alright. I ordered an 8 pin compatible cable as well to try. If the new cable works I'll return the PSU

I also ordered a PCIe cable for the video card because my VGA connection was not compatible

But seriously man, just try the 4+4. Make sure you have them turned the right way, and if they slide in without any trouble or needing to force it, they are compatible. The shapes don't need to perfectly "match"

I swear it's not compatible

Here is the V12 plug

I'm not having the right squares

Remember that all that matters is that you don't have squares on your connector where you have a shovel on the board. You can have a shovel on the connector and a square on the board.

Unless I'm twisting myself up, the 4 pin at the top in your picture is a perfect match for the top of the 8pin on your board (release clips on the left). The 4 pin at the bottom of your picture inherently matches to the bottom four on your board because your 4 pin is all shovels. Shovels on your connector will match with both shovels and squares on your board.

Assuming what I posted above is correct (if not, tell me where I went wrong), just try it. Stop psyching yourself out on the shapes matching. Just try it. If it slides in without issue or pressure, they "match", no matter what the shapes tell you.

Had no idea....

I'll try it. Let's move to my GPU then. Maybe I'm doing the same there as well

Connector to GPU

Now, this is all assuming that the split 4+4 cable you're holding is labeled CPU or Aux or something like that and not labeled PCIe. I don't even see how that would be possible, but just want to confirm being I can't see the label in the picture
