Anyone have any tips for the Lone Shadow Longswordsman other than “git gud”? I’ve been getting my assed kicked for a while now. I can barely do any damage to him and blocking his attacks does barely any posture damage.

Maybe I’m trying to beat him too early? Ive only beaten one boss so far, the first. Haven’t even tried lady butterfly yet. Should I progress another part of the story and come back?

which fight with him? in the well? if so, go past the well entrance and fidn the big hole. can drop in on him and get a free stealth blow.

deflect all of his attacks and kicks. mikiri his perilous kick. bait the big drop kick, then when he rolls into the sweep attack, jump and kick off for extra posture damage. if you want to play it safer, use the spear to poke him from farther out.

he's a motherfricker in NG+, gave me headache last night.

it's in the locked shack in the reservoir in between the well and Kuro's tower. think you get the key from a guard on the bridge

Is that the purple clad guy in the well where you start?

He was a tough fight. Obviously take the free deathblow from above.

I sort of used a cheese strategy that worked. I used the length of the well to my advantage. He's too fast to fight to one spot. Sprint to one end, wait for him to come to you and try to get in a hit or two, then sprint to the other end and repeat.

I found this helpful because it allowed me to sort of get setup for him and deal with a single attack pass at a time, rather than try to fight him jumping around like a whirlwind around me.

*Late Game Boss Spoilers*

After about 10 attempts, I took down the true corrupted monk. Feels good, man. That third phase was... interesting. Not sure if immortality is worth having a centipede burrowing around inside of you.

Now I’ve gotta focus my efforts on father owl. He’s beaten me down about 6 or so times. Not feeling confident.

i didnt want to tell you since I didnt know on my first run either, but you can get 2 stealth deathblows on her and immediately skip to 3rd phase. Sprint down the bridge and grapple to a branch as she leaps down, jump and air deathblow. immediately grapple back up as she begins the illusion and you can do it again. it was beautiful for NG+

yeah, he's a tough one. great fight.

What did you guys think of the guardian ape fights? I found him pretty easy but I know a lot of people struggled with him

I found the 2nd fight with him to be too easy TBH, it looks like it's going to be very hard, but it's not for a few reasons.

1. The main ape does all the moves you got good at in the first fight the whole time.

2. The helper ape that he summons is not particularly aggressive and has very low HP.

Given that the fight is optional and really the only 2v1 fight in the game, they really could have made it more difficult.

Either make the 2nd monkey more aggressive with a bigger health bar

Or make the main ape go into a new phase when the helper monkey arrives, not the same thing he's been doing.

I was stuck on him in the Valley for a couple hrs. Once i learned to take to slow, phase 1 was easy, just long. Phase 2 was a bitch to get the timing down for some reason. Got him down, immediately went to the depths for the 1st time, and was sooo pissed.

But i had that fight ingrained already and the buddy was a light weight, so got it first try. Thank god.

if you can pull off a death blow while enfeebled, it's the coolest thing ever

Yeah agreed. I only got hit with it like 3 times but it was always a delayed death sentence. Status effects are most fun if you can actually fight your way through them if you're skilled enough.

A better example of a similar mechanic is in DS3, those jailers who shrink your HP bar down to like 1HP. You still can move and fight completely normal but any damage at all will kill you. You still have a chance to survive, just don't get hit by anything.

The enfeeble mechanic would have worked better if say it made it so you couldn't jump, dodge, or sprint, but could still otherwise fight as normal.

But it was like one spot in the entire game and easily avoided, so no big deal.

I'm gonna start another play through next week, I slightly short changed myself in NG+ by doing the Shura ending in it so I missed replaying the final portions of the main story. I still haven't gotten to see the Hirata estates revisted yet.

These FromSoftware games spoil the shite out of me, most other games feel so unfufilling in comparison.

The good news is that Miyazaki says there are 2 more games coming down the pipeline that are "From Software-esque" Lots of people speculating Bloodborne 2 or Demon Souls 2 as being candidates, which would both be dope, but as Sekiro proved, new IP's using the From formula effectively are still awesome.

BB2 is pretty much a given for PS5.

I dont see Demons 2. We'll probably get another Armored Core

Just beat Genichiro. Took quite a few tries, but when it clicked it felt great.

At this point in the game, I really want more fast-hitting bosses. The two Long-Arm freaky Wolverine guys were complete jokes that took all of 30 seconds each. Same went for Lady Butterfly once I got more aggressive.

Genichiro was too slow for me to exploit with deflects.

That double overhead bath owned his arse, though.

Before I took him down I cleared everything available outside of the Headless. Ready to press further into Sunken Valley and Senpou.
