One thing that a lot of folks that I talk to was saying that the success of Pokémon GO was a driving force of the Switch (I don't believe it)
Seeing how the switch was in development well before the success of Pokemon GO

You think there will be no portable Nintendo console after the 3DS after seeing the Switch?
What would be the point?

Yup, you are right, there is no point. And that is incredible.

I split equal time handheld and console. This is a slam dunk for me. If it plays my 3ds games....wow

But it would be a nintendo thing to do

It depends on the success. I think Nintendo has at least another 18 months left on the 3DS, which gives them time to see if this works.
Remember, when the DS was announced it was marketed as the "3rd Pillar," look it up. Gameboy/Handheld. Gamecube/Console. DS. Once it was a massive success, of course they wouldn't develop another Gameboy. It was a super smart play on Nintendo's part (they CAN do smart things) to bring in something new, keep the Gameboy line in their back pocket (the Advance had sold 100+ million) and test out the market's receptivity.
People loved the DS and that was that. The Gameboy line died. Maybe the most successful 2-3 console line of all time was gone. Just like that.
I think we see the same thing here. Test the market out....will they take a single machine??? If it works and they get back to 60-80 million in sales, then I think they stick with the single console. If it fails, or it's a mild success, then there's a high probability we'll see a new handheld.
That's my two cents.

Not that it impacts me (yet - the kids seem to want them) but I'm wondering about Amiibo support on the Switch. I'm guessing the amiibo "scanning" spot will be on the center of the "Joy-Con Grip™".

Seems to be the case.
Would love to see more advanced amiibos down the line.

What do you want from amiibos?

Looks like the Mario Kart game in the trailer is Mario Kart 8

More storage. Would love a little less of a script execution in games. I still only have one.

Toon Link!

Zelda on the go just makes me want driverless cars here faster.

I'll get it if I can play 3ds games on it in some fashion.

I would think down the line. They are releasing DS games on the WiiU right now every now and again.

That's a certainty I would think. I want me current eShop games to migrate over and I'll be fine.

A pascal based custom tegra only having to render 720p can probably play some current gen games.
