Nintendo Switch - Wifi issues & Joycon repair

2 questions:
1) The Joy cons on my sons Nintendo Switch have bad stick drift and the top right bumper button does not work.
I see from their website Nintendo offers free repair service. Anyone have experience with this? How long it normally takes? Is it just free repair on the stick drift or would they also fix the broken bumper button? Would love to have fixed for free than spend $80 on new ones.
2) The wifi signal goes out often on the Switch. Either a very weak signal or he loses connection while playing and gets kicked out of a game. I have AT&T fiber and no issues on any other device. He plays very close to the routers as well so its never an issue of being out of reach of the signal. Is this a common issue and any possible solutions?
Thanks for any advice.

Yes, I've had 3-4 sets of Joy-Cons replaced/repaired via Nintendo's free service since 2015. It usually takes a week to get there, 2-3 business days on the repair, then another week back to you. They go to a place in New York State, IIRC.
Not sure if they'd fix the bumper button at the same time, but if you put it in the notes for the repair, the worst they can do is tell you so.
One Switch dock sits in the media cabinet with the router, but I have a USB hardwire adapter just to ensure that it's not a problem.

Thanks. Would they be able to tell me in advance before sending them the Joycons if they would fix the bumper?
Son prefers to play handheld so hardwire adapter wouldn’t help. but that’s interesting and never knew they had that.

Likely, yes.

The Joy-Con repair service has been legit in my experience. The inevitable wait for shipping is annoying but in the two times I've done it (once for drift and once for a broken trigger button) the whole service has gone as smoothly as possible.
Helps of course if you already have spare Joy-Cons lying around to pick up the slack.

Thanks for the replies. I have since learned that the D-pad buttons also do not work well. These joy cons are so delicate. I know they have not been used poorly but just the typical gaming and hitting buttons they have not held up well. Hopefully all this can be repaired.
We do not have spares so this is my biggest concern. Dealing with an impatient 6 year old!!
