Bought a PS4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 earlier this summer. Never got around to playing. I literally just opened the PS4 box and started the game a mere 3 days ago.

While playing tonight, all of the left sided buttons started malfunctioning. L1 and L2 buttons are spastic while cycling weapons and items. And the L analog stick as well. Basically he walks with a slow limp because of it. It just happened out of nowhere.

It’s brand new controller that I’ve been using for ONLY 3 days. It’s never been dropped or mishandled whatsoever. It connects and charges fine. I can’t find any answers online to fix this issue.

I don’t know if it’s RDR2 specific issue? Unfortunately I don’t have any other PS4 games to test it on.

Any recommendations? I tried to reset the pinhole in the back and that didn’t change anything. I hate to take the control apart after only 3 days. This is bullshite.

TIA

Return it and get another one.

Try connecting it to your computer and using an online gamepad tester like LINK /

It's the controller. For some reason, there are some really shitty Ps4 controllers on the market that will break at a record pace.

All of them start off with the left stick going bad from my experience.
