1. Is it more important to spend larger amounts of time with prospects, or to just land more pitches?

2. Is quickcalling a prospect a bad thing? Prospects always seem to lose interest rapidly if I use it even one week.

These might have been asked before on here, but I just got the game yesterday so bear with me.

1. its more important to find out the high, very high and most things, and it doesnt matter so much about the time. Really, as long as they are smiling at the end, you are doing good.

2. quickcalling is not the best thing and not nearly as good as doing it yourself.

What I do is quick call and offer every player I can the first week and then do it myself from there on. However, for the top guys I will call them myself even in the first week just to get a leg up on the rest and make sure I get them.

1. find the high, very high and most. also try swaying topics as well.

2. i like to use the quick call to find what they like. also when you are the only one offering them and you have bigger needs you can use it.

I always call the bigger 5 star guys and the ones that i need. then work down to 4 stars and 3 star so on.

I only call when I need to schedule a visit or try to sway from a soft commit. I like playing the games more than spending all my time on recruiting. I do try to call everyone on my board every week.

Here is my method and I am usually able to gather a top 10 recruiting class with a 5* prestige school and a top 20 with a 4* prestige school:

1. I like to keep the pool smaller. I only put 10-15 players on my recruiting board in teh preseason. Of course I make sure I cover my needs and the highest ranked caliber players.

2. You can now be able to call each one every week. I offer all 10-15 a scholarship the first week. That usually puts me in the top 3 of interest if they were interested in you from the beginning.

3. By week 3-4 they are ready for a visit. I make sure I have at least 2 very high's and 1 most unlocked for their visit. Also, I try to invite them to a big game and make sure I WIN. It won't kill your chances but the gain is much better if you win the game you invite them to.

4. If you have time, you can sway their pitches to match your school's best qualities.

5. When players commit or you lose them to other schools, just fill in the board with more players.

You should be able to sign about 18-25 players this way every year.

ETA: Oh, and make sure you complete your pitches! Even though the football is smiling, doesn't mean you're gaining anything unless the pitch is complete.

If he starts to frown, just end the pitch if it's not working. And if it's taking more time to complete than you'd like, it's best to end the pitch.

Has anyone else noticed that the football will go from a flat/neutral face to a frown, even though your pitch garnered "very high" interest? I've had this happen several times.

I've had them hang up on me on a pitch that ends up "Very High"

some don't want to talk that long.

Either that or their "VERY HIGH" interest is not a strong point of your school.

For instance, if your school's academic prestige is "Fair" and their interest is Most or very high, then pitching this is going to turn them off of your school.

This is why it's important to try and sway their interests to the things your school is Very good or Excellent at.

also try searching for prospects midway through the year. search for ones that have 10 schools left and find the ones with no offers then scoop them up to fill needs.

I usually fill my needs first then go to players from LA and then find speed guys even if they are only 3 stars.

right now with idaho my slowest wr is a 94 and i have 2 99's. then my db's are all over 90 in speed as well as a lb at 92.

I only recruit guys that have my school in their top three... It usually ends up being about 15-25 5* and 4* guys

The first week I offer all guys with me as #1 and usually land 1-3 of them.

This strategy has always seemed to work for me, with no quickcalling...

Also, if there is a recruit that has soft interest in you, recruit him for 3 hrs that week and he will commit.

I got 10 5* guys and 15 4* guys for a total of 25 recruits.

That works well if you have a top tier school, but if you're a bottom end school then that won't be so easy.
