Is it actually worth $150? What makes it better than a regular controller?

I don’t personally own a scuff, but if he is a teenager that plays FPS games somewhat competitively than most people than I’d say it’s a good investment/gift.

I have no problem with normal controllers, but I have friends who got a scuff and will never go back. The only mod I use for FPS games are Kontrol Freeks.

ETA: you can map the buttons on a Scuff. It allows more customization of the button mapping. Like I remember in Destiny 1 people who used a scuff would map the slide button to another button scuffs and it was a more natural button press. It can give you an advantage depending on your play style.

If he is on Xbox, then the Elite is also nice. Ive had one for two years and I love it. SCUFs are great, but ive heard they break easy. Never owned one so thats just from word of mouth

I have the elite, a scuf, and a battlebeaver custom controller. I like the battlebeaver the best because of some unique services they offer followed by a tie between the elite and scuf.

The answer is if he likes fps games, then yes totally worth having a nice controller.

You cannot program a controller in-game?

Depends on the game.

There were certain controller layouts you could use in D1, don’t know if you could program certain buttons to wah command, I never tried and just used the default layout.

The game changer in D1 and I’m assuming in a lot of other games, is programming commands to the paddles. the ‘slide’ command in D1 on a paddle was an advantage on other people who didn’t have that ability.

I owned both elite and scuff. Elite is basically the same thing, but its made by xbox. So its a lot easier to get fixed/replaced. They're basically the same thing. However, he may be super pumped about a scuff because he follows esports and wants to be like his fav player.

The elite has 4 paddles that are added to the back that do give huge advantages in FPS like CoD/Overwatch. Instead of having to move your hand off certain buttons u just push a paddle with a finger already resting on the back of the controller anyway.

Battle Beaver > Scuff. Scuffs are junk. I also agree that if he's on Xbox then the Elite is a better option.
