Mortal Kombat (newest one) my son keeps whipping my arse with The Joker

The Joker is the only fighter he’ll (11yo) play with and he beats my arse 2-0 every time, no matter who I use. He just beats my arse with the hammer/cane. He’s got a long reach and is seriously OP (my boy’s words). I’ve come close to winning with subzero but his good combos are hard to do. Anyone played this title and have a suggestion on a fighter with decent combos that don’t require a bunch of button mashing/memorization? I spent the extra money and bought all the fighters.

Joker is pretty good. The top player in MK11 (Sonicfox) uses him and has pretty much sun every tournament.
The characters better than him are Jacqui, Fujin, Li Lang and cetrion. Johnny, Spawn, Jade, Sub, Kabal right below.
