What did the ending mean to you? Like does it possibly mean Ellie is going back to Jackson?
I hope they do some sort of fireflies storyline in part III where they go after her.

Ellie is broken. She probably drifts off somewhere out East. Her ex-wife shouldn't take her back. She made a choice and walked out on her family. There was no reason to go back after Abby and she had a pretty idealic life going on. She just can't be at peace.
The story was brutal. But it was a gorgeous game. Just take all the gameplay and plug it into other storylines and I am all in.

She was definitely going back to Jackson. In her journal she was finally able to finish drawing Joel's face after the events at the beach. She can finally move on.

I think Ellie will try to go back to Jackson but it will never be the same. Her quest for revenge got Jessie killed, Dina nearly killed, and who knows where Tommy is at. She probably will become pretty distant from everyone especially since Dina wants nothing to do with her. Not to mention she has an extreme case of PTSD that she won't get proper treatment for.

Revenge consumes everything it comes in contact with and so we witnessed how it changed the lives of Ellie, Tommy and Abbey. Ellie lost her family because she was bent on seeking revenge for Joel. Tommy's relationship with his wife went down the toilet for the same reason and look how much it changed his overall demeanor from the beginning of the story to the ending. Abby also sacrificed a lot just to get revenge for her dad.
The only safe place that Ellie knows is Jackson unless she wants to partner up with Bill in his booby trapped town

I think this is a possibility. The initial load screen changes after you beat the game to what I guess is Abbey’s boat outside the Firefly compound on Catalina Island. To me this seems like the 3rd one will have Abbey and Fireflies in it.
