Ok so Anthem's biggest problem was that they had a lack of content and the gear progression was layered with so much RNG on top of low odds for good gear that it sort of made it all pointless. That being said, the combat was fantastic and fun.

Now the legendary / masterwork drop rate is much improved, and the ongoing event allows for "targeted" loot chances for higher end gear.

My colossus is power level approx. 850 and I do Grandmaster 3 when I can find a random group. I have never done a GM 3 run without getting at least one legendary, often two and rarely 3.

My ranger isn't far behind, just need more components and support gear upgrades, but I can do GM2 with that Javelin fairly easily.

If you were looking to jump back in, or jump in at all, you could do worse for the price.

Not yet, but I believe it is very cheap. Any gamestop should have tons of used copies lol.

It's great to jump into, run a few missions, have fun and hope to earn a few gear upgrades. Not complicated at all.

Having never played, when it released I read that the base gun you start with was more powerful than any other gun in the game

Has that been fixed?

Yes. Scales properly now. Progression makes more sense now with multiple ways to earn most loot, only 1 way for a couple pieces.

ETA: That issue was just one of the things that made me quit 100%. Looks like the people they haven't laid off or moved to other projects actually have some interest in keeping the game solvent. If they can get the game to a playable state, then reduce staff enough to be profitable long term, the game should survive. I'd say we are probably 6-8 months from that, if ever.

The game needs a horde mode like nobody's business, a "raid" or 3, unique/exotic loot with targeted sources to keep people playing all content, improved gun damage (past GM1 guns are basically useless except for a few select that prime / det or have unique bonuses like the Truth of Tarsis), and finally, a pilot mastery system that the scrapped before launch. Bonuses that enhance stats for every javelin. You could really get into some builds by having points to allocate skills to either shore up your fav javelin's weaknesses or really lean into the strengths. Min-Maxing essentially.

Game still has hope. I bought the digital version so I'm stuck with it and now can wait to see if they make it a game worthy of longevity.
