Is there a way to play older PC games in an easily minimized/maximized window?

Like say I wanted to play Deus Ex, but wanted to be able to easily switch between it and the interwebs, or play it on one moniter with tigerdroppings on the other. Then, say if I pause the game, I would be able to move the cursor to other portions of the screen outside of the game.

From experience, hitting the windows key to get out of the game can have some sloppy results.

Yeah, borderless window mode. Usually, the setting is found in general graphics settings, where you can choose full screen, windowed, and borderless windowed. Windowed is the easiest "minimize and multitask" method, but if you have two monitors, it's just as easy to get out of borderless, and it looks better. If the game doesn't support borderless window natively, there is software that will force it.
