Is it just me or do joycons make playing omnidirectional fighters impossible?

Obviously I don’t play on them as a preference but for the time being I have to. Feel like Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls and SamSho are almost flat out impossible to play seriously unless you break the control which I don’t want to do, considering I’m on my 3rd set of joycons.
Love the switch but man, where’s my GameCube control

I can play Mortal Kombat 11 no problem with the joy cons.
Street Fighter on the other hand can be a challenge.

Are you talking about playing hand held or docked?
Docked, I use the pro controller. It's really nice.
Hand held, I've recently seen the split pad pro. I have not tried them yet, but they get great reviews.

Mobile. Handheld whatever you wanna call it. At the moment my dock is screwed so I have to use a plug.
Weight of the switch feels like it adds a whole other element to playing the game almost.
