I started off with Saudi Arabia, upgrade air transmission (both) as soon as possible. Then upgrade water (both) and that's all you will need to spend on transmissions for the rest of the game. Do NOT upgrade symptoms until 100% of the world is infected, anytime the cpu automatically upgrades it for you just devolve it. As for abilities, just upgrade cold and drug resistance (twice) once you have 100+ DNA points. From there just save points and once you have infected the entire world go all out on fatal symptoms. Spend last remaining points on slowing down the cure.

start is a country in Asia or Eastern Europe.
I did China.
Do rodent twice, bird twice, livestock twice. That's the only transmission you'll need until nearly 100%. The countries left will be islands. (Carribeans, New Zealand, Iceland, Greenland)
Also use the ability Fungus pop or whatever. Double both of them.
Every symptom that pops up, devolve it for 2 DNA points.
It takes forever to get to 100% infection, but be patient and keep the disease unnoticeable.
Once 100%. Devolve all your transmissions and abilities for 20-30 DNA points. You'll have 80+ other DNA points.
So with 120-130 DNA points, make it rain symptoms.
You'll be near extinction before they get to 50% cure.
It just takes forever
