headset mic issue on new PC build....

So I can't get the computer to recognize the mic on my headset. I've tried both front and back ports. 'Microphone (Realtex(R) Audio)' is set to default. Rolled back and then re-installed driver. Device properties says that it is working properly but I just saw in the Events tab 'Device not migrated' with the following listed underneath....
I have a pretty common HyperX headset. Works just fine for PS4 and it does feed back the mic audio into my headset when I'm trying to test it on the PC.....but it doesn't register with the PC itself.
I know there's no way this is a common issue but has anyone ever heard of this happening?

frick me......as soon as I posted this I checked the privacy and permission settings and found that the mic wasn't given permission by default.
