Firefight is awesome and very addicting.
And with the amazon thing, mine was only 10 dollars off, not 15.

wait can you buy the multiplayer disc seperatly and just play that instead of the whole odst?
Posted on 9/23/09 at 6:20 pm to ragusauce26
You have to buy the whole thing.

Is it true that there is no matchmaking, so pretty much if you don't have friends on you're shite out of luck? And what is firefight?

There is no matchmaking for the new ODST.
There are 2 discs.
1 is campaign mode and firefight mode.
1 is the halo 3 multiplayer w/ all of the maps + 3 new maps.
If you have Halo 3 + all of the maps there is nothing new to play online. In fact, if you have Halo 3, you'll be playing against some people who have ODST, just not the 2 new maps.

Amazon sent me an email this morning saying they were going to credit me $10 on my Chase card for the shipping & handling being messed up.

Yes, yes it is.
Me and my friend teamed up last night to play Firefight.
1st time to play Firefight ----> Set 1, Round 2, Wave 2. Dead.
2nd time to play Firefight ----> Set 6, Round 3, Wave 2. Ran out of Weapons.
took us 2 hours, but we are ranked probably in the top 5% on bungie.net

fwiw, toysrus still has the best deal.
i looked at my reciept; they charged me $39 for halo (and taxed on that amount) and added $20 gift certificate to the rceipt.
So my tax was $3.something plus I can use the $20 card for MW2 in November

anybody really impressed with the story so far?
i am, different take on Halo all together.
if you're a Halo fanboy you will love this game, if you aren't a halo fan....save up for MW2.

ODST is possibly the most boring FPS I've ever played, definitely tops for next gen consoles.
I admittedly dislike Halo, but I can admit Halo 1 and 2 had a lot of good points, although overall I found them both to be vanilla and forgettable.
ODST getting called Vanilla would be an insult to Vanilla. The graphics are very average, the storyline isn't engaging, the weapons are nothing special, the baddies are an ever coming train of the same 4-5 guys with the same tactics, EVERY fight.
I would say I'm disappointed but thankfully I only borrowed a friend's rented copy

too each their own....
obviously you weren't a fan of Halo before, so obviously you're not going to be a fan of ODST.

It shouldn't take being a fan of a game to find enjoyment in it. Seriously, this game looks like it should have come out 2-3 years ago or as an expansion.
I would feel highly cheated if I were one of the unlucky souls to preorder it :(

granted it's running off of the Halo 3 engine, so to expect a stunning new set of graphics around every turn is unrealistic.
the storyline is during the same time period as halo 3, so can bungie really change up the characters, weapons, and vehicles?.....No.
It's a waste of time to argue with you, because you've formed your opinion already.
But what ODST does bring to the table is a temporary fix, if you will, to those Halo addicts out there with a few added features and a different side of the overall Halo story to tie them over until Halo:Reach is dropped.

Klark...what's your best ranking w/ Halo? I saw where you said you were looking for a decent player. I used to be a 42...not into clans and what not, but it'd be nice to play with some good players.

haha, i'm picking it up.
i have my games, all depends on the availability of the battle rifle.
me and a buddy went to Set 6, Round 3, Wave 2 on Firefight Wednesday Night. So the talent is still there.
