I'm a pretty big rpg fan and we haven't had a new FF tactics game since the one on PSP back in 2007. So it's been a while. Looks pretty good from what I've seen of it. Getting a PS5 release and a PS4 digital only release, and Switch as well.

Was hoping they would add the original PS 1 Tactics as a Classic but it's not too expensive on ebay these days...

Tactics imo is in the top 3 stories of any that FF has ever told. I’d probably rank it 2nd behind 10, and then 7 at 3rd.

Anyone who has never played the game should 100% pick this up, even if the gameplay seems odd and even annoying at first. You get used to it and it gets better.

I already own this game twice but I’ll buy it again just to have it on ps5 as someone who holds FF as my favorite franchise.

I really wish they would do more games in the Ivalice universe beyond tactics and ff12. The lore is super super interesting and the furthest detached from traditional mythology and iconography related to FF

Yeah, it does have a great story. Unfortunately, Jrpgs aren't as popular as they were in the late 90s, before open world rpgs took over. But, the PS5 has seen a lot of releases from Square. Hopefully we do get some more Tactics style games if this sells well.

FFT is one of the greatest games ever.

Tactics Ogre on the GBA was a great silver medal.

I had forgotten there was a tactics game on Nintendo DS. Just ordered it, along with the 3D remakes of III and IV.

Tactics Ogre Reborn is in my library on the Switch, but I haven't played it more than 15 minutes.

FFT and Chrono Trigger are two of the best RPGs ever. I don’t have a PlayStation or Nintendo. I hope they end up releasing it for Xbox.

Jrpgs aren't as popular as they were in the late 90

I don’t really believe this is true and it’s mostly propaganda. Persona still sells incredibly well and the very likely game of the year Clair Obscur last numbers put out sold over 3.3 million copies and was the fastest selling JRPG on computer in history.

Square still puts out a lot of really good jrpgs that are on a smaller scale like octopath. They sort of have an issue going on with final fantasy though. Again, FF is my favorite franchise of all time, and I did like 16 even with its problems and very very much like the 2 7 remakes, especially the combat. The only mainline game I would say I really don’t like is 15, which is sad since it has tremendous potential.

My point is you can say FF hasn’t been a jrpg since 13 (imo) but you could even argue 10 if you wanted. It’s to the point where 16 isn’t even really a rpg at all.

So it’s not that these games aren’t wanted or aren’t popular. There is an extremely high demand for very high production value jrpgs that SQE used to fill with FF, and Clair Obscur proves that
