Never got around to buying it this weekend, and since I didn't, I figure I see if anyone else on here has given it a go. 76 on Metacritic with an 8.6 user score

Yep, got the platinum already, pretty easy overall. only tedious part (besides the infamous race) was the collectibles, but I just did them while I had the Saints game up and it didnt take too long.

the original is one of my favorite games. i was 9 or 10 when I played it and remember thinking "ok I'm an adult now."

the remake is very faithful and I had a great time with it. the only issues are the various bugs, some janky animations, and other little technical issues.

Considered it - I'm in the market for an OC game, but I never played Mafia, so no direct experience with the franchise - this is very much a GTA-type gameplay, right?

I'm going to wait for the Romero/Paradox OC game that is very similar to XCOM, Empire of Sin coming in December. So far, that looks to be just my speed.

Kinda...but not really. You drive around doing missions but its much more linear.

Not quite. The game's story mode is divided into 20 chapters that are set in a big city. Missions consist of driving, shootouts, heists, a little stealth, etc. It's not GTA style in the sense that you drive around to start missions and whatnot

Free Ride mode basically cuts you loose in the city GTA-style with all your guns and vehicles that you've unlocked. There are 12 phone booth missions, basically side missions used for more unlocks. There are also 5 hidden supercars as well for you to find
