Finished it last night. The ending is legit like 2 hours of cutscenes. Some quite unexpected twists. Overall enjoyed it.

Just got to South Knot City after the surprise trip to the tar pits. I’m having a good time even though I don’t understand like half of the game’s systems. Playing solely for the story lol, having a good time. Couldn’t recommend this to 99% of people tho

I played it all day, 8 hours in now and just got out of chapter 2, It's my kind of game, weird, pretty, amazing sound work. But most people aren't going to get it.

Amazing Sony let Kojima make this and gave him an unlimited budget, that is why Sony succeeds. They get it.

Chapter 4 is where the story really begins to take off.

When I realized I had to haul Mama’s arse back to Mountain Knot, I almost jumped off the roof head first. Unbelievable

I didn't think transporting her was too bad, but I also had a road system and zip line system almost the whole way

I'm super addicted to this game. It's finals for me this week and I have to pass a 2nd certification to pass a course and all I'm thinking about is building up roads and best zipline routes to 5star deliveries. And I just finished the Junk guy's arc, I thought for sure I was going to carry his GF in a body bag all zipped up, I was like WTF?

The thumbs up like anime style popup bubble was a nice touch.

I love the fact that other players stuff is out there and that my stuff is in other people's game. It's a really well done concept and when you complete a road that everyone has been contributing to or see a zipline someone else built that helps your delivery, it's a really great, and uniquely satisfying feeling.

The game is one of a kind, and the more i get through the story, the more of an actual "game" its becoming.

Kojima is a goddamn genius.

Another thing is game is really good at is creating tension, the atmosphere is unreal and the music, sound design is unreal.

I wish I could see my friends shite in the game. Pretty annoying you can't search for people to make bridge links.

I like the game alot but I'm ready for it to progress.

I heard that when you make a bridge contract with someone it pulls their stuff in your game.

Haven't confirmed but I've seen it discussed.

finished last night. wish I had just watched a youtube video of all the cutscenes. I am the most argent Kojima defender on earth but man he has lost it with this and MGSV. he desperately needs someone to tell him "no." I enjoyed the gameplay at first, but it gradually lost me over time. I kept powering through in anticipation of a grand story payoff, but as I realized that payoff was never coming, I got pretty mad. this game was just system on top of system on top of system - so up its own arse. the tips page has like 300 tips LOL, just silly.

the game had some stellar performances, it's really well-made, the score is amazing, and there were a few magical Kojima moments, but the rest of the experience was pretty much nonsense. the explanation for the MULEs and why they steal cargo is the most ridiculous thing ive ever seen in an otherwise serious game, like come on man.

this guy nailed one of Kojima's biggest issues (minor spoilers):

quote:

Kojima has grand ideas, but instead of keeping it simple, he relies on using the most elaborate routes he can come up with to get them across. Instead of just giving a breadcrumb trail of clues, both in the direct story and the various 'interviews' and emails and all, leaving just enough to let us try to figure out on our own, he leaves the trail, then he just stamps a sign down explaining it, and another sign with the same information but worded differently.

One character: 'Bridge babies aren't truly alive because their mothers are brain dead and they're acquired via C-section and thus straddle the line between birth and death, giving them the ability to sense the BTs.'

Second character: 'In other words, you mean that bridge babies are neither alive nor dead, due to their mothers' minds being dead yet their bodies are alive, and this closeness to death allows them to sense the BTs.'

Third character: 'Yes, because the bridge babies are not completely born, but are also not dead, they develop extrasensory powers that we harness to detect BTs, but the mothers are brain dead and are thus also not alive, but neither are they truly dead.'

The same information, repeated three times in the same scene using different wording or phrasing. Kojima tends to use as many words as possible to explain the point he wants to get across, for better and worse. He comes up with such grand ideas, and he's quite clever, and no one can deny it, but he needs to learn the meaning of 'less is more'.

I disagree but then again I'm just getting to chapter 4 so we will see when I make it to the end.

I love Kojima for his originality. IMO this game has a very satisfying game loop.

One thing I do agree with is the fricking tips, there's some tips FOR tips.

That and every time a new mechanic is introduced, I just want to play and Die-Hardman immediately buzzes the codec to explain EVERYTHING to me. None of that was needed.

But that said I applaud Kojima for not settling into what made him famous and just keep repeating it. (Like COD, Madden, etc) I'm just very happy there's still someone out there, with AAA money and funding and trust of the execs out there to take risks like this.

This game obviously isn't for everywhere, but it has hooked me in so far and it's all I can think about lately, but like I said I'm still only 1/3 of the way through according to everything I've read.

It's refreshing that Kojima is still out there with his creative vision, as batshit crazy as it might be.

But if you read my post history I tend to really enjoy games others take a shite on, so just using that guideline this game probably sucks, and I love it.

I think Yoko Taro is the new Kojima. Just the right amount of japanese weirdness with much more coherent writing and dialogue
