I did find the great scythe, so I may use my shards to buff it to +10 and do something different with Ug. Maybe lightning.

Great Scythe is arguably the best dex weapon in the game - crazy damage and reach, high dps and causes bleed. It's a boss killer.

I should have enough titanite to get it to +10 until I find the very large ember. And I already have enough chunks and the slab to get it to +15.

At one point, you'll find someone. Talk to him and after the cutscene, there is a corpse with the lantern

Still at base for the thief. I hate to waste four levels, but I've thought about it...I do have several boss souls I don't plan on using.

You can make it. You don't even have to fight anything. Climb out of pinhead's chamber, follow the path until you slide. Go straight and slide again. Turn right and run past 2 giant skellies, then slide again. Straight ahead is the npc, and to the left is a drop to the bonfire.

You could always raise int to 14 and buy cast light from Dusk, you could also use magic weapon. It always comes in handy having a bit of faith or int.

Started another character and went to the catacombs to grab the great scythe and lvl it to +5

Never made it to the bonfire. Got frustrated and warped back to Firelink. Buffed it to give me 20 flasks. Now I have to run back through the Catacombs to get back to attempting to make it to Patches...

I made it to the Tomb's bonfire and picked up the skull lantern. I still feel like I need a divine weapon while working through the tomb. Or I could just run past everything
