Controller Not Connecting - Xbox S

I have 2 controllers for my series S and both are bugging out. They light up solid like they are connected but are not responsive. Then after about 5 seconds they slowly blink twice and back to solid as if they are connected. Rinse, repeat.
I have tried manually powering down. I've turned off the console. I've switched from my rechargeable battery pack to actual batteries. I've tried to reconnect each controller but everything ends up with the same result.
Any suggestions?

Hard wire it to the xbox and see if what happens. It is a pretty basic charger cord you probably have laying around the house.
Edit: Not sure why I was downvoted. Connect it will at least tell you if it is a coincidence and a controller issue or it is a wireless connection issue. At this point you need to start crossing things the list to narrow down the problem.

I had a similar issue on my Series X and a hard reset of the console finally fixed the problem. No guarantee, but probably worth a shot.

I know you are all ripe with anticipation of the situation.
Turned everything off again and came back about 15 minutes later and my 9 year old had it working...so I'll just be talking to him from now on.
