Cant’t get ammo for my Carbine repeater in RDR2 what am I doing wrong?

So I go into the gunsmith, go to the shelf buy the high velocity rifle bullets leave the shop and notice my Carbine repeater still says it has 0 bullets. I go back in but some medium velocity’s out of the catalogue, still says I have no bullets.
I am still early in the game so I have the first rifle Dutch gives you, the carbine repeater.
Bought bullets for my pistol and it worked fine.
What am I doing wrong?

I thought that could be it but I don’t know how it would be. It’s a rifle so I assumed you buy rifle ammo. Says it can use medium or High velocity ammo and I bought both for a rifle.

Just says repeater ammo in that link, so I'd start there.
RDR2 is extremely dense so I can't blame anyone for not knowing basics about the game.

It's easier to just go to the counter and look at the catalog instead of shelf-to-shelf shopping as well

Make sure its repeater ammo and not rifle, pistol, revolver ammo

What they need to do is fix their servers. I can't get into the showdown series anymore
