Can you play same downloaded games on 2 different switches?

My son is a getting a 2nd switch for his moms house and I was wondering if he’ll be able to have access to all his downloaded games on his current switch. Thanks

Yes but you can only access the content on your Nintendo account on one Switch at a time which can be a little finicky at times. Just have to make sure both Switches are set up as belonging to the same Nintendo account.

Additionally, other Nintendo accounts can be set up on the 2nd Switch, and they would need to be added to the Family Group for Switch Online.
Purchased content has to be played using the account that made the buy on the eShop.

Why not get a second dock instead (if those are for sale)? With the Switch being portable, it seems like it would make way more sense from a financial and technical standpoint.

This is frustrating and why I won't buy downloaded content for the kids. It shouldn't be hard to make it available for anyone in the family group.
