True, but I've tried them and when done right they are delicious.
Papps: The Old Fashioned is a type of cocktail made by muddling dissolved sugar with bitters then adding alcohol, such as whiskey or brandy, and a twist of citrus rind. (from Wiki)
My wife and MIL like them with whiskey, usually some good whiskey. It's got to have simple syrup, I'm guessing that's the sugar. It's good with an orange slice squeezed into it, too.

Did you google that?
You muddle the orange slice, usually with a cherry to add some natural sugar and then add SS to taste
A few dashes of bitters and some good makers mark to top it off
Splash of club soda optional

Yeah I googled...I've never made one. They always order the $9 bastards at restaurants.
