Wanted to see if anyone here was a fan of simulation-style, tactical war games like Combat Mission, Graviteam, Total War, or others. Would love to find PBEM opponents or just get recommendations for other titles y’all play.

Been a big fan of the Combat Mission series since I was a kid. The engine is horribly outdated leaving lots to be desired graphically, but in terms of pace of engagements and overall realism/historical fidelity, it shines.

Hey, nice to meet a fellow grognard on here! I have been playing Combat Mission also for something like 25 years now. I had high hopes for the new engine games but I never was able to get into them like like original 3.

I own a good chunk of the games you listed, and would love to try something out multiplayer sometime (be warned I am really bad at most games these days).

I don’t know why I keep coming back to this janky series of titles sometimes, but there is just something about it that I haven’t found replicated anywhere else in video games. CM just scratches this particular itch I have with war gaming.
