So is Elysium, Hades, and Atlantis suppose to be a simulation where all the characters you meet are just computer generated NPCs or are these real people? I can't figure out how I am supposed to care about my interactions with friends/family in the afterlife (no spoilers) or the decisions I make (no spoilers) if these are all just fake people?

It really feels like Ubisoft has no idea what to do with the actual story behind AC (precursors, assassins, templars, etc) and just throws you into big maps that look cool. Everything is "explained" away with just a hand wave.

This is my problem with the AC storyline. I very much enjoy the different settings (especially Egypt), but it being a simulation kills a part of it for me. Yes I know its supposed to be memories that your reliving that did actually happen.

I just feel that ubisoft could have made many different IP's (pirate, egypt, Odyssey) and could have explored it with the actual mythology intact and not some computer glitches or whatever.

I haven't played Odyssey so maybe things differ, but with what you said, sounds like its the same formula again.

No no, I think you misunderstand.

In Fate of Atlantis DLC, it is said that your character is going into a series of simulations (kind of like trials) to power up a staff.

These simulations are basically the Greek afterlife. You meet gods like Hermes, Hades, Persephone, etc as well as dead companions and enemies. The game though treats them like real people (ie, do you kill your grandfather to bring your wife back to life), but if it's all a computer simulation what's the point?

Ahh gotcha. Still sounds like the same reason why I don't care for the characters as much.

I mean, as for the historical stuff, it may as well be the real thing.

With the DLC on top of what I already mentioned, you're still going around killing guards and whatnot. How are you killing people who are already dead? Makes no sense

I just played through it and really liked it. Elysium and Hades were very cool while Atlantis was a little disappointing (harder to move around the map).

Knowing it was just a simulation made it easier to justify worse (or more cruel) decisions, but I generally forgot that it wasn't "real" life for Alexios.
