I like that one quite a bit. Beat out new riff, martin's senator pick, and sagamore 8 in the blind I did. I can see why some wouldn't like it, but I think it's a homerun from SW.

Saw a bottle of Kentucky Owl today. Wasn't sure it was worthy. glad to see you drinking it. So how is it?

IMO, neither are worth it, but the rye is better than the bourbon.

2PD was. Sample of Old Forester SiB BS Rye from a buddy.

I have way more bottles unopened and un-tasted than those I have tried. I just bought a bottle I have had a pour of at Social and that is Widow Jane Decadence. I really liked this one. This is the first bottle I actively looked to purchase.

We need to do a meet and taste. A lot are from Lafayette.

It was also kind of pointless to run these blind as I was able to easily identify them based on the initial nosing. They are different flavor profiles, but similar quality imo. I wish I had more of all three

Nice review and I agree, what batch RR13 do you have? We need to swap a GTS 18 for 19 sample soon

Willett won my bourbon, rye, and finished bourbon blinds so I guess it's fair to say I'm a big fan.

Willett is also my shite

Likewise, I need the Hirsch breakdown, seeing lots of them flying around screaming purple top, the yellow single barrel from Ky in the 130 proof range is supposed to be good if you see it around as well.

LPD on taco Tuesday is one of my favorite in a long long time, HW killed this bottle IMO

It is a purple top, I had one and killed it already.

ETA: you have to be careful, because not all Hirsch stuff is Willett. But the yellow single barrels are typically Willett (you can verify because they include the mashbill on the label), also the red label “The Cask Strength” is Willett finished in Cognac casks.

ETA2: much more risky because they don’t include a mashbill on the label but some Barrell (as in Barrell craft spirits) single barrels from Kentucky are also assumed to be Willett (would probably be in the 6-8 year range). I had a few (from the same barrel) that I am convinced were Willett. I’m very familiar with the Willett profile and would be blown away if the Barrell pick that I’m referring to was not from Willett.

NPD, man this shite isn’t worth a shite ha. I think I’m gonna give it away to the BIL, just seems like a hot mess, that has been regulated to a later night pour to tamp that down a bit. Still sucks after 3 pours
