Is the troubadour a special release? I assumed it was a store pick of the single barrel bourbon.

I believe so but don’t quote me on it. There’s a local bourbon bar here in Houston that had a bottle about 6 or so months ago. The Troubadour name rings out.

I have a hard on for those barrel picks and Four Roses picks.

ETA: Now that I’m saying this out loud, maybe the Troubadour isn’t a store pick since this bourbon bar had a bottle or two. Time to ask google.

Didn’t do some deep searching but the only Willett Troubadour result came up at the bourbon bar I referenced...

Make sense, seeing how that bottle was ###/200. Guess it is a barrel pick.

Martin Wine is my first stop every time I come into BR. They always have a good selection and good store picks. Hokus Pokus is stop #2.

Hokus Pokus had a few bottles of Blantons, Eagle Rare and McKenna this evening among a few other single barrels. The 3 above were gone in about 10 minutes.

This is batch 2 of 3 that they've made. It's $40 and drinks well above that price.

quote:

This second batch of High Rye Bourbon Whiskey has been specially blended for a one-time, limited-barrel release. We hand-selected white corn, Elbon rye, and “wildfire” malted barley. Then we put the humidity and rapidly shifting temperatures of Central Texas to work, coaxing flavors from the charred oak barrels in our rickhouse. The result: warm spice aromas that leap out of the glass to greet you, followed by delicious caramel notes derived from original, thoughtfully sourced grains. This is true bourbon whiskey, made the Austin way.

Mash bill 70% Non-GMO white corn, 25% rye and 5% malted barley.

Tasting notes From our Master Blender, Nancy Fraley: “Delightfully sweet aromas shine through on the initial nose, followed by waves of browned butter with baking spices such as cinnamon, allspice, and clove. The alcohol is soft and round on the palate, with a surprisingly long finish, depth, and finesse.
