Went to a good friends house and he decided to open a bottle of 2011 Silver Oak. I'm sure a more sophisticated palate would've described a very complex wine but for me, it was all oak. Paired well with the filet and I really enjoyed tasting it open up as the night progressed.

Anyone else open a good bottle for Father's Day?

No fancy schmancy for me, just a Bandol rose. Yes, I put an ice cube in my glass.

Rose is the only thing I'll ice. It's a seasonal thing.

This is the one of the most popular wines from Alexander Valley. However, there has been a lowering of demand over the past year. This is priced above average for red wine from Alexander Valley. On the other hand, the price has been decreasing over the past year.

2013 Repris Right Bank a Merlot dominant blend (59% Merlot, 41% Cab Franc) that might make Myles rethink his "I'm not drinking any F@@kin' Merlot" stance.

Nice wine for a beautiful day.

In summer, I typically start with a Sauv Blanc by the pool then gravitate to a Cab once dinner is on the grill but if I had a chance to sip that bottle I may also have to make an exception on Merlot.

It was free. Most of my wine is since I've got so many friends in the business here.

Some white I brought home with me from the Pecs region in Hungary last time I was there.

As a country, they are really underrated for their wines. spectacular flavors.

Visited the winery in '14 and this past March and joined their wine club. The only way to get their wines as they don't sell it any other way. They are not a volume producer and their wines are a match for my palate.

The Right Bank is a very nice wine and pairs well with me sitting on my arse and watching The Preacher on AMC last night.

I'm planning on starting my research for a few unique wineries to visit on a trip to Napa. I definitely prefer visiting the smaller wineries rather than the bulk as seen in your local supermarket.
