And apparently they own the galactic patent on the term "pub crawl"

I hope they don't sue me for typing it here...

can you explain this statement to me?

American breweries have to pay licensing for each beer they want distributed into our market, so many of them will choose to avoid a smaller relatively craft beer unfriendly state like Louisiana and instead distribute to bigger (more populous) states like Texas and Florida where they get more bang for their buck.

International distributors must not work that way, because we can get just about any brewery that distributes internationally in Louisiana.

Abita is alright... and I'll drink it from time to time... but it's nothing great IMO.

I concur. Like I said in another thread, if it's a 4-tap bar and my choices are Bud Light, Bud Heavy, Ultra, and Abita Amber, then I'll give Abita my business.

If I'm at the Chimes or Bulldog or somewhere like that, I probably will skip over them and try something different.

That's the only reason I buy it from time to time... if Abita was made in another state I wouldn't buy it.

Exactly...

I was at an eatery in Hammond not long ago that had some regular domestics and Tin Roof on tap... so I went w/ Tin Roof.

Miller Light for me. And if I really want to step it up I will have a Sam Adams Boston Lager or a Dos Equis at the Mexican joint.

Aventinus is one of my favorites as well.

Sweetwater 420 is really good. I believe it is out of GA.

It's not great when compared to other microbreweries, not even close IMO

Some of the few "selects" I've had from them were pretty good.

Yeah, they are in Atlanta. Terrapin is in Athens, GA and does some really good stuff as well.

Too bad neither distribute to Louisiana... have to go to Alabama/Florida/Georgia to get them.

I have drank craft beer all over this country and Abita holds up. Abita is not my favorite, but to say its not close is crazy IMO.
