I'm traveling to Louisiana for a family gathering. Bringing the following:

Rice

Chicken and Sausage Gumbo (for my "allergic to shellfish" mom)

Chicken, Sausage & Seafood Gumbo for everyone else.

Giblet gravy for my SIL's cornbread dressing. I make Paul Prudhomme's recipe, but double the recipe and add chopped eggs and some chopped chicken. Big favorite with my family.

Homemade cranberry sauce made with brandy & Grand Marnier.

Homemade sweet potato / pecan pie in a springform pan like when you make a cheesecake.

Whipped cream with a touch of brandy and Grand Marnier.

Pecan pralines.

The wife is making various candies and Paula Deen's mac-n-cheese.

Not sure what all the siblings and their clans are bringing, but one brother is smoking a turkey and ham. The other brother is bringing some smoked venison and dove breasts in a white wine mushroom marsala sauce. The men in my family make all the good dishes and the wives focus on candies, hors devours, side dishes, breads and desserts.

It's just 3 of us this year so the menu is severely scaled down from previous years when I hosted a party that saw 25 or more people show up.

I'm still trying to decide if I'll smoke or bake the turkey. With that, I'm cooking potatoes-au-gratin, a green bean casserole, cornbread dressing, oyster patties, pumpkin pie and heating up some King's Hawaiian Rolls.

Wine, beer, cocktails and soda will also be on hand.
