Did anybody use regular wood pellets and how big a difference did it make?

Do you own a Traeger and you're asking as to whether or not you can use other brands in a Traeger grill? Traeger's warranty says they'll cover damages(pellet related)only if Traeger brand pellets are used. However most brands are basically the same so yes you can use other brands. I have and with no issues. Just make sure you are using "Food Grade" pellets and not something that is intended to be heating fuel. Up north pellet fueled heaters are used for home heating.
BTW, most pellets that are of different species of woods(pecan, oak, cherry and so on)are not actually those said woods/trees. When made they add an additive to the saw dust or there is only a small pecentage of actual said sawdust.

Cookinpellets are the way to go IMHO.
