The guys ages range from 25 to 33 and we won't need any fancy restaurants lol

the chimes is probably where you want to go. Good food, not the best Cajun or anything but its solid. Best beer list to food combo you will find too.

Like others have said, if you're coming from out of town, don't set up your own tailgate. Just walk from tailgate to tailgate to get the full experience. Don't stay in one spot.

Just a word of advice... We had a crew down to our tailgate from Nova Scotia a couple time over the last few years. Great guys, and they had a good time for sure. One thing they did not know about when they got here, but were very familiar with by the time they left..... Fire Ants..

He just looked at me like why these ants crawling all over my legs..

Agree with others, just make the rounds all day and you'll have a blast.

Friday night barhop up and down 3rd st. Not a world class party street by any stretch of the imagination, but there's 15+ bars and restaurants,a decent supply of people, and it'll get ya drunk. The night before games usually a lot of fans for the away team will be down there. Use Uber to get to/from hotel if not staying downtown.

Saturday AM Head to campus and start drinking. Anytime after 7AM you'll be able to find some activity down there.

If still looking for a hotel, the Holiday Inn Express downtown is open, but does not appear on hotels.com, etc...

If its a night game, tailgating won't get really packed until after noon so I would get to campus as soon as Chimes opens (I think 9) and make that your first stop. Great brunch, I normally get either boudin omelette or crap cake poach. Plus on gamedays they do specials on bloody mary's and mimosas. Beer selection is also great if you want to go more that route.

Chimes is just north of campus so you will be able to walk there from virtually anywhere you park for the game. I would also recommend you do what the others have said and get a rolling ice chest or something. You will be able to walk all over campus, tell people you are from Canada on a bucket list trip, and people will take it as their responsibility to get you guys all really drunk and stuffed on good food.

If its a 2:30 game, people will be out there earlier, and to ensure you have a good buzz going into the game I would recommend getting to campus around 8. From there you can just walk around campus. Maybe go to Chimes after the game.

IDK what hotel you are staying at, but on Friday downtown @ 3rd street is probably your best bet. Either that or go to the casino L'auberge. Also, not sure if y'all have it where you are in Canada but Uber is your friend in Baton Rouge. We use it all the time for easy and cheap rides all over town. Although, it will probably be ridiculous upcharge anytime on gameday, but especially right before or right after the game. Friday before it should be fine though

We have a guy who has drawn the short straw and will be driving us after the game.... They serve booze during the game yet? I know alot of NCAA usually doesn't serve but figured I'd ask ?

Nope. But its pretty easy to sneak flasks into the game as long as you aren't in the student section

Post game you should walk to a bar (north gate area or walk ons) and hang out for about 2 hours and don't even bother trying to drive out...although admittedly sitting in traffic for several hours due to poorly designed traffic patterns around a major entertainment venue is part of the local experience.

Might not be a bad idea to have a $10 tshirt made that says something along the lines of "drove from Canada to see Death Valley" you get the picture. Anything like that and people will welcome you.
