Holy shite. One of the best Coffee Stouts I have ever tasted. What are some similar stouts that I need to try? I’m more of an IPA guy and am just getting into stouts. Educate me.
Also, educate me on the difference between a stout and a porter. I’ve been told that they were the same.

Parish Reve is probably the best non barrel aged coffee stout I’ve ever had.

French Press is actually a coffee porter, but close enough. It’s a high abv porter so only slight difference from a stout.
Reve (mentioned above) and Founders Breakfast Stout are very popular and really tasty beers.

It’s great but not a stout.

Is French Press in BR? I don’t remember ever having it and wouldn’t mind giving it a try. I don’t remember seeing it anytime recently, but I could have glanced over it.

I’m at the Bulldog in New Orleans right now. I’ve never seen it in BR, but the next time I do, I’m grabbing it.

Réve is one of the best beers out there IMO. Rocket Fuel is a Vietnamese Coffee Porter by 8th wonder and it’s really good. Freetail Local Coffee Stout (bourbon barrel aged) is great if you can find it.
Sad Panda in Fort Collins and Modern Times out of San Diego make great coffee stouts as well.

Porters tend to be thinner than stouts, which is why I don’t care for them. I like my dark beers to have a nice, thick mouthfeel to them (that’s what she said).
However, SA French Press is awesome. It actually has a body close to stouts like Santa Fe Java, and has good coffee flavor. Also, at $10.99 for a six pack and 9% ABV, has to be one of the best bangs for your buck in taste and booze strength on the shelves.

Wish they’d do French press year round. I love that beer
The winter ipa is pretty damn good too.
