Interested in purchasing a wood pellet smoker. Never done any meat smoking, but enjoy eating smoked foods and want to get into it. Generally probably just cooking for no more than my household (5 of us), but maybe up to 15 folks at times for games. From my research on here and few others sites it seems that the upper echelon pellet smokers are Mak, Memphis and Yoders. The bottom tier being Traeger and Camp Chef with Rec Tec and Green Mountain being in the middle. What do folks recommend between those two and what size if you top out cooking for 15 folks or so?

I have a GMG Daniel Boone w/WiFi, and have no complaints.

I can’t speak to Rec Tec though.

Rec Tec is more expensive but has all stainless cooking chamber construction and a 4 or 6 year warranty that is incredible. Strong customer service as well.

Bought a stampede in April and have nothing but praise for it. Exceeded my expectations.

Know people that own a GMG and they are happy as well...so don’t think you could go wrong with either. Rec Tec is just a slight step up in quality and features.

A stampede will be plenty for a family of 5 but if you wanted the ability to do larger cooks you should consider the next size up, the Bull - Model RT 700. Runs about $1200.00

Definitely the RecTec. I have the Stampede and it should be good for 99% of your needs.
