Seems to be more Canadians than anything.

All I can say is that beaches doesn't disappoint. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Different strokes for different folks. I just don't see the appeal of a massive all-inclusive on a high end island with great dining options but plenty of people do.

Thanks for the lead. Glad to hear the food experience has expanded in the last years. St Marteen is also great but in a more boisterious way. I just really enjoy the entire Caribbean except for Jamaica, had enough of there. VRBO is great as well, please no disney on the beach all inclusices for us either. I want to be in the island not just on it. Punta Cana is wonderful as well fyi.

Big time. They have some very talented chefs all over the island. There are several more restaurants we would have loved to try. We'll be going for 9-10 days next time instead of a week.

That's kind of what I gathered.

Consider chartering a boat and sail around the BVIs (note, not the USVVIs). Sounds like it would be right in your wheelhouse.

Actually thinking about doing this next spring instead of trying a new island tour. Thinking of doing 4-5 days on a boat and 4-5 days on an island, and it appears a lot of them are based in the Virgin Islands or Key West area.

Any recs on captains? I've briefly researched it and it seems they all have "gourmet chefs" and 5 stars on Yelp. Be nice to have first hand review from a non-yelper or Trip Advisor.

I used to work down there for an outfit called Sail Caribbean. At the time it was just a sailing camp, but I think they do adult charters now. They used Sunsail boats. Or you could bring a friend who knows how to sail and bareboat charter (that is no captain).

In all honesty, the best part of the BVIs is waking up and sailing to a different island each day. Staying on 1 island for any longer than 2 night is probably a waste.

This is what I'm looking for, but probably a large catamaran that sleeps 6 guests or so with a chef(usually wife/gf) and captain that drops you at a new destination every day.

ETA: I don't want to be in charge of anything except fixing another drink or putting my scuba gear on.

A catamaran is a good move, but even with no sailing experience, with a little practice anyone can pilot one of those things. The Sunsail boat handlers used to bet on whether or not the catamaran charters would even open up the sails by tying very specific knots in certain places and then checking when the boat came back.

I checked the website. Looks like it's just schooling from what I see. I'm not sure I'm up for piloting anything on vacation . Probably in the best interest of my party if I don't.

I think this is another reason why I'd really like to speak with somebody who has done one of the large catamaran island hops.

I really didn't do it justice. Great food. Outstanding chefs there. A lot more restaurants we want to try.

Yep. Tripadvisor forum. Don't pay attention to the tripadvisor rankings. They're all out of whack.

Excellent write-up. I would really like to try some of the restuarants over near the Regent.

No matter where you stay, here are the key points:

Some of the best, most beautiful and relaxing beaches in the world.

Excellent scuba diving.

Top notch food.

And did I mention RELAXING, which is the main thing, to me.
