When did this become a thing 
.
Mixed ranch with some pickle juice sprinkled in with some dill weed for the base.
Topped with mozzarella, hamburger pickles and a little more dill weed on top.
Family loved it but I hate pickles so I didn't try it

Here's a good pickle pie recipe from back in the day
Bob the Terrible's mustard and pickle pie recipe
pie crust
2 cauliflowers diced
4 pickles quartered
4 tbsp butter
4 tsp mustard
1 oz grape jam
cut it all up, put it in a pie crust, bake 325 40 minutes
