Worth it? We drink a lot of these from sams/costco.
Does it taste as good as these?

The problem with all of the carbonated drink makers is the tiny CO2 cannisters. You have to mail them in to get refills and they are expensive. We would kill one bottle in about 3-4 days.
I think ours is a drink mate, I found a conversion cable and hooked it to a 5 lb tank but the 5 lb tank has much higher pressure than the small tanks. Cannot find a regulator that fits the conversion hose.

I have a sodastream Terra hooked up to a 5lb propane tank. I bought a hose on Amazon with an adapter for the quick-connect on the soda stream. It lasts us about 3 months before needing to be refilled at the homebrew store down the road. It's already paid for itself 10x over. This is the hose I bought.

You just screw one end into the tank and the other end hooks in where the cylinder normally goes. I think I also bought the empty 5lb tank on Amazon. I drilled a hole in the side of my cabinet next to the fridge and store the tank in the cabinet under the counter. You can't even see where the hose comes out.
