I'm thinking this one. No experience with stainless steel. Looking to find a nice set around that price range.

That looks solid. I've had a calphalon set (anodized stainless) for 20 years.

All-Clad would be better, but at the price point differential, not sure the benefit.

Of course, you'll also need some cast iron, non-stick for eggs, and a couple of magnalites. After that, the basics should be met.

What is the difference? Just non stick? I see some all clad stainless but its double the price. What other benefits would I get?

My main set is Calphalon stainless with tempered glass lids. It's almost 20 years old and I still love it. I've added other pieces such as some non-stick omelette pans, some hard anodized pieces, and one other stainless Calphalon piece with a stainless lid.

I like the stainless lid better than the glass lids. Easier to clean for one, and I did break one glass lid several years ago. (Calphalon's warranty may have covered it but I never tried to get it replaced.) That would be my biggest hesitation on that set you linked.

I used to sell both Calphalon and All-Clad. The feel of All-Clad is different & somewhat better, although over the years Calphalon has changed some of the styling (handles for instance). All-Clad may be a little heavier also, but the construction of the ti-ply with the aluminum core is similar. Honestly, if I had the money I probably would go with All-Clad, but IMO, the stainless set you're looking at is a good deal for pans which will last you a long time, and a comparable set in All-Clad will be much higher.

Well after hearing from yall and reading some more reviews I ended up going with all clad.

What do yall think of the set I purchased? It came with a 170 dollar lasagna pan free with purchase.

I've been researching cookware sets as well. I'm thinking about buying the Cuisinart MCP-12N MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set for $239.99 on Amazon. It's had very good reviews and is close to the All-Clad in quality for less than half the price. A few people who have used both have even preferred this set to the All-Clad.

Not sure about that set, I bought a very basic set of stainless All-Clad and then started buying the copper-core piece by piece until i had what I wanted.

Just as a FYI the copper core stuff is great but pricey as hell, but we enjoy cooking and it will last several lifetimes.

Not sure why you would spend the money on All-Clad and not get the stainless. Non stick, no matter the brand, is going to wear out over time.

I would spend the same money on a smaller All-Clad set in stainless and just build up from there. You can do a lot of stuff with just a few pots...

Well I guess the good thing is if it wears out I have a lifetime warranty. Also it is stainless on the bottom where it heats. I used them last night and it did a wonderful job. The matching stainless steel set was 300 more and I already went over my budget.

Just be certain to use soft utensils on them. Anything hard will scratch the finish.
