I have an XL BGE and have to replace the band/hinge assembly about every 6 years. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper then buying a new one and isn’t hard to do. It still bugs me, BGE could make a better hinge design, most of the other ceramic grills have them beat in this department.

Head to the egghead forum and look up a guy that goes by RRP. He has hooked many on the site up with the “Rutland” gasket. Last gasket you’ll need.

This isn’t entirely true. My Rutland was great. I did a burnout to clean my egg. Just let the vents go and it prolly peeked at 1200 degrees. Fried my Rutland but it was worth it with how clean it got the egg. Just applied another.
