For those of you experts who use this often, how much do you normally put in your recipes. I normally eyeball seasonings originally and then to taste. Do you use this in comparison to an onion or garlic powder or more in moderation like a cayenne pepper?

My normal Cajun seasoning mix has some as an ingredient, but just bought plain MSG and wondering about how best to use it.

You will really have to experiment with your own taste. I would start with just a little and work up from there. It is a flavor enhancer for umami and it can be very strong.

This is good advice. Add it in 1/4 teaspoon increments. It's not as bad as people have made it out to be. It has it's uses. I use it 3-4 times per year.
