I have the Meater 2 + and I still think its a bit shoddy. If i go upstairs, I cannot get a reading. For some reason, that annoys me and I feel like I should. The main point of this for me was for longer cooks when I am sleeping or not paying attention.
Doesn't the meater2+ still work off of bluetooth?

I have the Meater Block with 2 probes. Got it 2 years ago as a birthday gift. It worked brilliantly for a while, then suddenly I could not get it to connect. Online they give different cleaning directives. After rolling through them I finally got them to work again.
Then it happened again. I have not been able to get mine to work for about 6 months now. I have been back to using my Thermoworks probes. It's a shame, because these things work nice when they actually work, and they are not cheap. What a waste.

I'm blaming this thread for mine shitting the bed on me today 
I've loved mine since I got it about 2 years ago but the last couple of pork butts I have done, including today, I cannot get it to keep a connection once I wrap the butt in foil.

Well you essentially created a faraday cage. Bluetooth does not work well like that. Poke the probe through the foil so that the back in sticks out.
