When I was 10, spaghettios tasted pretty good. They then tasted bad when I was in my twenties, and now they trigger my gag reflex.

I'd say bad and good are pretty relative terms that vary with people depending on quite a few factors.

Sure. But the food at Chili's isn't really comparable to canned spaghetti.

It's not bad food at all. There are some things I wish they did a little different but I've had enjoyable meals there as well.

So, if something tastes like shite in your mouth, and you like it, it's being pretentious? By that, what am I trying to pretend that I'm not?

Fish sticks also taste like garbage to me. It probably has a lot to do with being on the coast and enjoying really good seafood than being pretentious.

This is a food board. Finding people who post here who take food seriously is pretty much a given.

I think the point is that we all know that you could find something that you would enjoy at Chili's. Would it be some epic memorable meal? No. Would it be satisfying? Yes.

I didn't say it was canned spaghetti. It was an example to demonstrate that good and bad are relative terms specific to individual people, and have to do with a lot of different things.

Walt, it's okay. Mike likely only has one a-hole, but it's very large and conspicuous . Yet, with just a bit of practice, it's easy to ignore.

Like what?

What would you say my palate would appreciate and enjoy?

I'm not exactly sure what you are saying.

Are you saying that eating at Chili's will literally trigger your gag reflex? Eating a burger with fries and a drink will, literally, trigger your gag reflex and you'll throw up in the place?

That must really suck for you, and you should probably have that checked out.

It's quite clear.

Good and bad are relative terms depending upon who you ask.

The burgers there are solid. They have a good grilled salmon dish if you like salmon. Shrimp tacos were good the last time I had them.

You can get tableside guacamole there now and who the hell doesn't like that? The chicken wings aren't bad. Chicken fried steak is good. Steaks are certainly not bad there either. I've had a really solid ribeye there before.

Right. And something doesn't have to be fancy or expensive to be good.

Chili's has pretty good food at a really good value.

Well, judging by the way you are twirling your mustache while you're saying "my palate", I'd say you'd enjoy a nice cup of douche, with a side of I would never want to hang out with someone like you.

It's a word... Palate... We all have one, and I'm not twirling my mustache, but you are projecting.

Well I've listed things that I thought were enjoyable.

They're simple items but executed well and they taste good. I don't see why that's so hard to believe.

I've had all of these items, and I'm sorry, but it's nothing to write home about. I lived, and it filled me, but it was nothing special or worth my time or money to spend when there are much better options to be found elsewhere.

If you like it, dig in.

Okay...

Expound upon tasting good and executing well.

What makes it taste good, and what is good execution?
