Berbere spice
Dark teff njera
So delicious, but the berbere is an absolute here.

The wife and I are going to be in the DC area next week and Ethiopian food is one of thing on our to do list. We've never had and have been wanting to try. We're going be more in the Bethesda area and have picked out a place there with good reviews to give it a try.

If you like heat, ask for berbere, it’s a spicy powder, like cayenne. You eat with your hands, kinda messy, scoop it up with anjera , a spongy teff based pancake-like utensil that you eat. Enjoy!

I actually recommended it, but it was too small for your group.

Oh sorry! Appreciate that. I have a free lunch to myself on Wednesday before the airport so maybe I’ll go there.

My lunch go to before flights out of BWI is Timbuktu. Big restaurant, convenience/liquor store combo. Little sketchy, but safe right of the freeway. Great large crabcakes, good slaw and cocktails. Sit in bar the bartenders, usually Asian ladies are good conversationalist.
