Has anyone bought meat from the dairy store in campus? Thoughts on price? Quality? Hard to find Goat meat anywhere and they seem to be one of the few places that have it. Any other recommendations on where to get good goat meat?

I bought there a few years ago. The biggest issue was finding a parking spot.
I haven’t been there in a while, but there’s a halal grocery store on Florida, by Shipley Donuts, that sells goat. Good quality too. It comes from a farm in Mississippi a couple of times a week, so if you go on the right day, you’ll get a goat that was walking around the day before

There's a halal place on coursey and stumberg that says they have goat on their outside sign.
There's also was a place at Florida and Wooddale across from where the Dunkin donuts was at.
I've never bought goat from either place, just see they have it. The place on Florida I used to get decent gyros from.

Kased’s. That’s where I get my goat when I’m making curry.

Fond memories of slaughtering at LSU in Meat Science classes. Yes, we slaughtered goats back in my time and the meat we cut went to the dairy store. USDA inspected but cut by 20 year olds, 99% of them who’ve never cut meat in their life until that day and hoping they cut it correctly with little supervision.
There’s nothing wrong with the meat per se, but if you can find a more reliable source as others are mentioning, I’d highly recommend that source.

I've bought goat meat several times from the LSU Dairy Store with no issues. One time I bought meat that had been twice wrapped. The outer wrap said LSU. The inner wrap said the meat was the product of Australia!
I inquired as to what the deal was. The response was that a LSU researcher was buying Australian goat meat for some research then selling the unused meat through the Dairy Store. Unethical and probably against LSU research protocols. Never shopped there again.
Ask when you buy.
