flying to LA for a meeting next month and instead of flying home friday morning bossman said the wife can fly out friday morning and spend the weekend with me. We would only have Friday, saturday, and half a day Sunday so what do you recommend on what to do if you only had two days in LA?

L.A. county is a big area. Most of my experiences there were in the Southbay area so I'll give a few recommendations in that area.

If one of the Saturday's is for an LSU game then you might be interested in going to Mr. Pockets sports bar in Manhattan Beach. The address is 516 N Sepulveda (pacific coast highway)

Huge LSU alumni group there for all of the games. It won't be difficult to find the LSU group. There is a good cuban place called Versailles in walking distance if you want to get a bite to eat before the game. They have food at the bar also, but it's...bar food.

If you like Japanese food, check out Mitsuwa Market in Torrance (not far away from Manhattan Beach) It's a massive Japanese grocery store with a huge food court. I went there about once every other week when I was staying in the area.

If you're a big beer guy, I would recommend checking out Naja's place in Redondo Beach. It's my favorite beer bar that I've ever been to. Great selection and it's right on the Redondo Pier. Typically they'll have good live music there and you can find decent food around the pier area. Place next door sells awesome churros. They have some bar food there as well but it's not the greatest.

There are a number of different Korean places there that would be worth trying if you're into that.

I would recommend spending a day in the Santa Monica area. Go to the beach, check out the 3rd street Promenade. Quite a few cheap offerings in the area and they have a good farmer's market there on the weekends if you're into that. The Getty Villa museum in that area is pretty good as well. It's right where Santa Monica and Malibu meet up. If I remember it's free or maybe you just pay 2 dollars for parking or something. But you have to reserve a spot online ahead of time. You can't just show up there and buy a ticket.

If you're downtown there is the original L.A. Farmer's Market by 3rd and Fairfax. If you're into Ethiopian food there are about 12 Ethiopian restaurants on that one block.

Also, if you've never had Malaysian food, do yourself a favor and try some. You might have to do some googling to find a good one as I don't recall the name of the place I used to go to.

Of course there is always In N Out Burger

Fatburger is pretty good too

Chicken and Waffles at Roscoe's would be an option

If you wanted to get really stupid you could try to get reservations at Urasawa which is regarded as one of the top restaurants in the U.S. I think you'd be looking at ~450 a head for the sushi tasting menu though. Pocket change to the OT but some people might not want to make a mortgage payment to eat

You have some good rec's outside of In-N-Out Burger . That's got to be one of the most overrated burger joints on the planet. He can also check out Anthony Bourdain's trips...he's filmed a few clips there.

Venice Beach is a very cool place to see and people watch but the food is touristy and overpriced....but comes with the territory. We rented bikes and rode up and down the sidewalks. Lots of weird shite going on, but fun.
