Little Country Kitchen in Monroe, North Carolina

First things first… I keep a good breakfast diner near to my heart. Grew up going to small breakfast diners with my papaw close to his home in Columbia, La. I learned how to flirt with old waitresses that would call ya hun, drank black coffee with old baws that complained about tractor prices, etc. I love a good small town diner, for nostalgia and other reasons. Even if the food is just decent, I’ll still enjoy the vibe. If the food is good or better… now we’re cookin’…
All that said, it’s worth the ride to this small town for the service and food at Little Country Kitchen. Work brought me to this area south of Charlotte and a local subcontractor recommended this place. But before he was a sub, he was a police officer, so you know he knew the good local food game. I took his advice, luckily.
It’s a bunch of southern gals on top of their craft slingin’ breakfast and lunch and good southern vibes. The food was excellent. Under $10 too, as she didn’t even charge me for my coffee. I like to snap jealousy pics of my plate and send them to my kid, so this is a shot of the grub. Two eggs over easy, good hash browns, crispy bacon, buttery fluffy biscuit and sausage gravy with sausage aplenty. Hot coffee and breakfast on a cold winter day is living the good life. I ate it all like a hostage… on company dime. Check it out. Yes, I put a lot of hot sauce on my shite.

Everything looks good except the white “gravy”.

Sausage gravy was damn good, baw. When I poured it on the biscuit it was nothing but sausage piling out of the bottom of the bowl.
I only like white gravy for breakfast fwiw.

Creative writing degree from LSU paying off with breakfast reviews ha.
FYI, this is about 30 minutes south of Charlotte. And there are some other good local eats in this area.

If you don't like sawmill gravy you are missing a Southern gene.
I like the Little Country Kitchen when I get out that way. It is one of the rare places you can get a liver mush biscuit. Their breakfast is better than their lunch menu.
