Just returned from a 15 day trip/cruise in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea (beautiful) and Greece (Athens, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes & Santorini), also wonderful. The highlight was being served an awesome portion of this dessert. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever eaten, and I usually don't eat sweets. There is no baking involved, very rich, dark chocolate, offset by the beurre biscuits (sweet shortbread?) It really was incredible, as was the trip! I am sure there are other recipes, but I am including one I found below, it will give you an idea of how easy it is!
INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLATE LOG RECIPE
250 g. butter
100 g. powdered sugar
1 couverture
1 shot of cognac (or brandy) Ours had Baileys
5 tablespoons cocoa
250 g. petit beurre biscuits
In a saucepan put the butter over low heat to melt. Drop into the dark chocolate cut into pieces, and stir, taking care not to boil.
Once the chocolate melts, add the icing sugar and cocoa and stir until you have smooth mixture.
Remove from the heat and crush biscuits in a bowl.
Throw the mixture and add a shot of cognac. Mix well, to cover all the cookies from the mixture.Let the mixture cool slightly.
Stretch a piece of grease-proof paper on the counter and throw the mixture. Wrap the grease-proof paper around the mixture and create a trunk. (Coasting right hand – the left until it has a uniform shape).
Wrap the grease-proof paper at the edges so as not to spill the mixture and put in the freezer for a few hours until frozen. When ready to cut into slices and serve on a platter pieces.

Sounds rich and delicious. It seems to be a cousin-cake to the “chocolate biscuit cake” popular in England & allegedly one of Queen EII’s favorites. Was served as one of the wedding cakes for Prince William & Kate, so it had a moment of worldwide popularity a few years ago. See that recipe here: LINK

Looks the same, covered in ganache, filled with dark chocolate and crushed "biscuits". Was phenomenal. They warned us about our drinks being spiked, I thought she might be spiking this free gift because it was so wonderful. We managed to top the Acropolis.
