I'm driving into BR just for the grilled cheese.

GF and I went to Chelsea's a couple of weeks ago to catch the place one last time before it either closes or changes hands and we were pretty disappointed. It felt like they were mailing it in.
We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it flavorless and lukewarm at best. I added salt and pepper to try to give it some life but it was lackluster. We didn't ask to replace it, thinking it was just the appetizer and the entrees would be good. Also, the stuff that it comes with to dip the calamari in lacked salt in a big way, although I fixed that with table salt. At least that was hot, though. The grilled cheese and tomato soup was still as good as ever, but my girlfriend's french fries were undercooked and soggy so we asked for fresh fries and they were still soggy, but at least hot and edible, but they needed salt as well. My beer was old. That is partially my fault for ordering a bottled IPA at a restaurant, but it was about 9 months old. They clearly don't check the dates on their bottled beers. GF's drink was not very good, either.
Service was fine, no real complaints there.
It's a shame, I don't want to remember Chelsea's that way.

Hopefully they close. Oh, wait.

Strange. It's usually the other way around.

I went Friday night. Also got the calamari (wanted the crawfish cakes, but my guest was wanting spinach dip which I find to be the most boring app ever so we compromised with calamari) and it was good enough. Calamari doesn't really do it for me, and it was just a handful on a plate, but it was on par with calamari I've had anywhere I suppose.
I didn't get the grilled cheese, but I noticed they've changed the bread the last few times I've gotten it. Still good, but not quite the same as it was.
I got the chicken fried chicken, and it was okay. Chicken was really tiny (no way it was a whole breast). Comes with green beans and mashed potatoes. I ordered fries in the place of mashed potatoes, and they ended up bringing out the chicken with fries and mashed potatoes.. and no green beans. Waitress noticed when she came to check on me, but the offer to fix it seemed half-hearted and I was already getting full so I didn't bother. She was sweet and I am not the type to make a fuss over that kind of thing.
Still.. their dishes that are my favorites (Mojo Chicken and Grilled Veggies on Foccacia) are as good as ever. I think my poor experience Friday was more due to my choice in items.
I did see a waitress chase an elderly couple down because they forgot to pay for their ginger ale, which seemed dramatic.. but I guess I can't fault her for doing her job.

I'm also not hard to keep happy when visiting a restaurant, as far as the server aspect goes.

I kind felt the same way when I went there last weekend. It wasn't bad but it was sloppy.
